I felt like it.
It’s that simple. The former name needed to be improved upon, or so I believed.
Being a creative, outlying misfit isn’t always easy. I spend countless hours in my head, and the only way to get out of our way is to let God run the show as best we can.
I do that by asking and praying for guidance, “God, help me be of service to the world by improving my mind, opening my heart, and sharing content that makes a difference for others.”
My purpose for writing is love. Even though I sucked at school, I’ve always loved learning what feels relevant to me; non-fiction and some fiction that fuels my soul.
I love to be curious, read countless books, digest the information, process and apply it to improve my mind, open my heart, and test it out in the real world.
My love for learning feeds my passion for sharing, writing, teaching workshops, and coaching people who want to improve the quality of their minds, bodies, and lives.
Therefore, I’ve been racking my brain trying to find a new name and brand for my newsletter. My process for naming and branding anything is this:
Pray for guidance.
Practice being open and receptive to change, especially when change scares me; bring it.
Practice being patient.
Journal, whiteboard, write notes and create lots of lists.
Practice being patient even more.
Go when the download FEELS the strongest and closest to 10 on a scale of 1-10. I call it radical clarity, where I FEEL the presence to take action and change.
Start hacking the domain name, initial artwork, and website, copy, and fearlessly bring it to the world.
Pray in gratitude, hang on for dear life, and write like I stole the ideas that get downloaded and served to me by the universal power of a thing I call God, even if I fail miserably to understand what that word means.
Clarity Feels Great
Today, I got enough clarity to face my inherent fear of change. Yes, I fear to change like all humans, but my mindset is when I am divinely inspired to shift to a new gear, I trust the infinite power to feed me the energy, spirit, and words you see now.
What became clear to me is the former newsletter name, The God Chill, emanated from my insatiable passion for following the words of Jesus and applying the wisdom of the ages revealed by sages, saints, mystics, and monks to improving my mind, opening my heart, and loving life to the fullest, because life is a gift.
In closing, I’ll quote Emerson today. Emerson, for me, offers an annoyingly brilliant, dense, and deep-thinking writing style, and he’s a freaking genius given the patience to sit, be still, and read his words:
"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Given today’s change and the initial work to update the domain name, new digital art, and newsletter assets like logo and wordmark, I feel great.
Thanks for being along for the ride because of my new brand, initial designs, and Noah's choice for the font style you see.
At the moment, writing for me and you feel fun. Enjoy the new name and brand with me because I’m praying this one stick!
